Public Hearing for Ward Feedyard Inc

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has prepared a proposed Kansas Water Pollution Control Permit, A-UAPN-C004 for Ward Feed Yard, Inc. located in Larned, Kansas.

 

This is a proposed reissuance of a Kansas Water Pollution Control Permit for the operation of a confined feeding facility with a maximum capacity of 26,000 head (26,000 animal units) of beef cattle weighing greater than 700 pounds. This represents no change in the operation or permitted number of animal units from the previous permit. The facility is located in the W ½ & SE ¼ of Section 10 and SW ¼ of Section 15, Township 22 South, Range 16 West, Pawnee County, Kansas. A notice in the Kansas Register dated December 18th, 2025, informed the public of the availability of the proposed water pollution control permit for Ward Feed Yard, Inc.

Appropriate copying charges will be assessed for each request. The public hearing has been scheduled in conformance with Kansas Administrative Regulation 28-16-61.

The purpose of the public hearing is to inform the public, stakeholders, and regulated community about the proposed Water Pollution Control Permit. The hearing will consist of outlining the facility and proposed permit, then the hearing will be open for public comment. Any individual with a disability may request accommodation to participate in the public hearing process and may request the provided documents in an accessible format. Requests for accommodation to participate in the hearing should be made at least five working days in advance of the hearing by contacting KDHE. An online attendance option may be made available upon written request.
